AIM
Biological knowledges have revolutionized treatment of adult AML and ALL in the recent years, leading to improved long term cure rates. The introduction of targeted agents, and the development of new approaches, are allowing more and more patients to achieve deeper and more durable responses.
In this Workshop, we will firstly discuss and describe the development and the results of highly potent new approaches in AML, including new hypomethylating agents and innovative small molecules which are offering, alone or in combination with other agents, promising results.
We’ll also focus our attention on the potential mechanisms responsible for resistance to these strategies, trying to highlight how to overcome them, in the near future.
The second part of the workshop will address the topic of ALL, aiming at updating on the tremendous advances and progress made in the treatment of this rare disease in adult population. The introduction of antibodies, CAR-T cells, and more potent TKIs have strongly modified the therapeutic armamentarium of hematologists, leading to brilliant long term cure rates. However, their best positioning and many open questions are currently a matter of debate, and potential answers and future strategies will be presented.
